Tug of War is a traditional team sport that tests strength, teamwork, coordination, and endurance. In this event, two teams pull opposite ends of a rope, trying to drag the other team across a marked center line. The sport promotes unity, discipline, and physical fitness, making it popular in competitions and recreational events.

team composition
- Each team consists of 8 players.
- Substitutes may be allowed depending on tournament rules.
equipments
- A strong standard rope, usually around 33–36 meters in length.
- The rope is marked with three points:
- Center Mark
- Two Side Marks (equal distance from center, usually 4 meters).
- Players wear proper sports shoes and uniform (no spiked shoes).
rules of play
- Teams stand at opposite ends of the rope behind their respective marks.
- The rope must be held under the arms, not tied, looped, or wrapped around the body.
- The pull begins only after the referee gives the command, such as:
- Take the strain
- Steady
- Pull
- Players must pull in rhythm and stay standing (no sitting, lying, or sudden jerk movements).
- A team wins when it pulls the rope a certain distance (usually the side mark crossing the center line) towards its side.
fouls
A foul is called if:
- A player sits or falls deliberately to gain an advantage.
- The rope is touched with any other part of the body except hands and arms.
- Players wrap the rope around the body, leg, or wrist.
- Use of unfair means, abusive language, or unsporting behavior.
